Home Upgrades for 2020

2019 will be ending very soon, and a new decade will start. As the new year draws near, you may be thinking about how you can refresh your home for 2020. It’s going to get busy for contractors at the start of the year, so it’s helpful to think about what you want to add to your home as soon as now. Don’t know where to start? Here’s a shortlist of home upgrades you can add to your home this 2020.

Solar Panels

The road to sustainability and self-sufficiency is long, and the first step is renewable energy. Arizona has plenty of sun, so harvesting its power for your own use only makes sense. Solar panels can help significantly cut your utility costs. It also serves as a backup when grid power is down. Most solar panels don’t require much maintenance too, so it basically pays for itself. It’s definitely worth looking into if you want a more self-sufficient home.

Entertainment or Game Room

If you have an extra room that’s been gathering dust, one good way to make use of it is to transform it into an entertainment or gaming room. While it’s okay to keep your entertainment appliances in the living room, an entertainment room sets an exclusive ambiance, where you can binge-watch Netflix films, watch sports, or play your favorite video games. Having a separate room also lets other people in your home relax in the living room without getting bothered by what’s on the TV.

Home Automation System

Home automation is undoubtedly a suitable addition to a modern home. It lets you control almost anything in your home. And you don't need to buy a huge system right off the bat, either. You can start with small upgrades like lighting and climate control using readily-available devices like Google Home or Amazon Echo/Alexa. You can also install sensors for your patio shades and awnings, so it retracts or opens automatically depending on the sunlight and windspeed. Having a smart HVAC system can help you save up on utility costs by increasing the energy efficiency your HVAC appliances. With home automation, the possibilities are endless!

Awnings & Patio Shades

Already have a pool but can’t use it during the summer because of the intense heat from the sun? Poolside awnings can add some much-needed shade to your pool. While using sunblock is recommended, it’s not advisable to expose yourself to the sun for extended periods of time. With some shade, you can extend your swimming time without worrying about getting sunburned. Awnings can also expand your outdoor entertainment space. Patio shades, on the other hand, can reduce the glare and heat coming into your patio, so you can enjoy cooler afternoons.

Of all these home upgrades, getting shade solutions is the easiest. It’s an effective way to cut cooling costs during the summer, and you can enjoy other benefits for the rest of the year. All Pro Shade Concepts is Arizona’s most reliable shade solution installer. If you’re not sure what shade solution your home needs, we do FREE HOME INSPECTIONS, no pressure to buy!

Top 5 Gifts for Arizona Homeowners

It’s almost Christmas - we all know what that means! The streets are going to be crowded with Christmas shoppers looking for last-minute deals on gift items. Trinkets, new clothes, and toys are nice, but if you want to give your loved ones something that lasts, or if you simply want to minimize the clutter in your home, look for a gift that everyone can enjoy. Here are top 5 gift ideas for Arizona Homeowners.

Multimedia Projector

Be it movie or game night, a multimedia projector will level up any entertainment space. Create a new tradition with your family where you all come together for one night each week to enjoy your favorite flicks. The great thing about a multimedia projector is that you can set it up indoors, or outdoors if the weather’s nice! Tip: create a driver-in aesthetic to your setup by adding some rugs/pillows on the floor of your patio or living room. Don’t forget the popcorn!

Outdoor Firepit

Every Arizona backyard should have a lovely firepit. There, you can gather your family ‘round for some campfire goodies - smores, hot cocoa, eggnog, barbecue, you name it! A fire pit creates a cozy spot in your backyard, and, when set up right, can also double as a grill. Thanks to Arizona’s warmer climate, you only need a single firepit to make your backyard suitable for winter family gatherings.

Hanging Patio Swings

Choosing outdoor furniture is easy if you go with the basics - but why not do something extra for your family and guests? A swing is a whimsical addition to your patio. It creates a space for you to relax and take in the fresh air while being gently lulled to sleep. Tip: Make sure to add some roll shades to your patio to reduce the sun’s glare in the morning.

Zipper Patio Shades

Customized Zipper Patio Shades are a great gift for anyone looking to upgrade their backyard. More than protection from debris and UV rays, it also maximizes outdoor living space. Motors would be a great addition too because it makes the shades easier to roll back when not in use. Make sure to pick colors that match or complement your home’s style!

Motorized Retractable Awnings

Need more room in your yard for social gatherings? Motorized awnings are the best way to add a little more space in your backyard. As an added value, it works best with sun and wind sensors, so it can automatically open or retract based on the weather. The best part? You can make use of it all year!

Replace Those Summer Exposed, Faded Window Sun Screens

Sunscreens are essential to protect yourself, your family and your furniture from the sun’s glare. If your sunscreens are looking a little worn out and faded from the previous summers, it’s time for a change. Here are the reasons why you should consider replacing your sunscreens after the summer.

Faded Screens Are Ineffective Against Heat

Depending on the type of screens you have, getting blasted by the Arizona sun during the day may have caused your screens to fade, therefore weakening its resistance to heat. Upgrade your sunscreens with a fabric that’s resistant to high heat and other elements. Premium Textilene Screen Materials are always the best option.

Enhance Your Curb Appeal

Old screens don’t look great on your home’s exterior. Dented and dull sun screens are a no-no when it comes to curb appeal. This may lower your home’s value. After all, appearance is important for real estate properties. Invest in handmade, custom sun screens to match your home’s aesthetic. Make sure to choose a color that matches your exterior.

Better Screens for Fall

Remember that you don’t only need sun screens during summer. Torn mesh screens won’t protect you from other elements. If you want to keep your window open to let in the nice fall breeze, sun screens can protect your home from falling leaves and other debris. It also provides the privacy you need, so you’re free to do as you please in every room in your home, without worrying about nosy neighbors.

Save on Cooling Costs

If you’re an SRP customer in Arizona, you can qualify for the SRP Shade Screen Rebate program. Work with a trusted and preferred contractor that uses Premium Textilene sun screens. These screens block up to 80% of the sun’s rays. With SRP, you can get up to $0.80 per square foot reimbursed on your sun screen installation!

Try Something New For Shade

Motorized Standard Track Shades for Doors & Windows have been growing in popularity here in The Valley. Easily control the amount of sunlight entering your home with the touch of a button. All Pro Shade Concepts is Arizona's #1 Trusted Shade Installations for residential and commercial projects.

Sun screens are great for your home all year round, especially if you live in Arizona! Like a good investment, it helps you save up on a lot of things. Arizona Home Flipper Tips

You might have seen it on television: a run-down house turned into a welcoming home ready to be bought and lived in. Reality television makes house flipping look like a piece of cake, but if you’re just getting started, you need to make sure you read up on the nitty-gritty details. Everyone has to start somewhere, so we’ve come up with a list basic of the things you need to know before you consider house-flipping.

All Pro Shade Concepts installs custom window sun screens, awnings, and patio shades; and are the leading shade providers in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, the East Valley (Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek) and West Valley (Phoenix, Glendale, Sun City, Laveen, Peoria, Avondale, Goodyear).

Gauge the Market

First things first - what does your target market need? Location is usually the biggest factor. If your potential buyer has a new family, for example, you would want to flip a house in a good neighborhood near schools and parks.

Work with the Best People

The key to a successful home-flip is a good crew. Share your vision with the most reliable suppliers and construction crew you can find. Always make sure to check the previous projects they worked on so you’d have an idea about the quality of their work. It also helps to maintain a good working relationship with them after a project, so you’d have a go-to crew.

Carefully Plan the Renovation

Once you’ve chosen a house to flip, think about the scope of your project. Being realistic with your timeframe and budget will save you from a lot of trouble. Think about what the property really needs to be marketable.

Attract more valuable buyers with patio shades that turn their backyard into an oasis that shades them from the sun & heat, while letting the nice breeze in. Many available options like sun & wind sensor, motorized/manual.

Retractable Awnings will increase the amount of outdoor entertainment space for your prospective home buyers. This is especially attractive to buyers looking to spend lots of time lounging by a pool or having guests over for outdoor parties.

Every Arizona home need sun screens, not only to cool down homes from the blazing summers, but to provide privacy and style. Don't lose buyers due to faded or damaged screens, adding fresh screens is an easy way to attract buyers that want a turn-key home.

When in doubt, always refer to your location. If you’re house-flipping in Arizona, it’s important to have good shade solutions. Work with a reliable shade installer that understands marketability factors. Apart from providing privacy, window screens can instantly improve a home’s curb appeal. Patio shades and awnings can keep a home cool during the summer, making it energy efficient.

Elegant sunscreens, manual or motorized patio shades and awnings: Quality shade solutions from All Pro Shade Concepts, Arizona’s trusted shades installer.

Keep it simple

Potential buyers would most likely want to add their personal touch to the property, so going all-out with style isn’t advisable. You can never go wrong with the necessities - good plumbing, shade solutions, a fresh coat of paint, and even a little landscaping. But never go overboard.

Grand Christmas Gift Ideas For Your AZ Family

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Some people would spend the first half of the season walking around in shopping centers, trying to find different gifts for each of their family members. Although time consuming, they know the effort is worth it - but there are people that go above and beyond to deliver the grandest gifts the whole family can enjoy. If you’re one to give grand gifts and you don’t have any idea where to start, we’ve got you covered! Here are some grand Christmas gift ideas for your Arizona family.

All Pro Shade Concepts installs custom window sun screens, awnings, and patio shades; and are the leading shade providers in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, the East Valley (Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek) and West Valley (Phoenix, Glendale, Sun City, Laveen, Peoria, Avondale, Goodyear).

A Basketball Hoop

Whether you have a son or a daughter, or even just an active couple, a hoop is never a bad gift idea. It will encourage your kids to play outside more and be active. It’s also a great way to spend time with your kids. To surprise them, wait until the last minute to get a basketball hoop installed in your backyard and unveil it on Christmas morning!

Patio Furniture & Outdoor Grill

If your outdoor space is looking a little empty, you can liven it up with a bit of patio furniture. Creating a space your whole family can use is one of the grandest gifts you can give. Give them a place to gather during lazy weekend afternoons. Lounge around and talk to them about how their week went. If your family is the type to host small gatherings, an outdoor grill is an essential add-on.

A Hot Tub

Mothers and fathers who work all day (and night, for those with small children) deserve a breather. Is there a better way to relax than to soak in a hot tub after a long day? Have the hot tub placed on your patio so you can enjoy the fresh air as you relax. For a small add on, buy an outdoor side table or a floating table to hold your refreshments.

Patio Shades

Patio shades don’t have to block your view as you lounge around or relax in your tub. You can choose the visibility level of the fabrics used and even have them motorized so you can roll it up or down at a touch of a button. Patio shades All Pro Shade Concepts have the option of being motorized. You can also add sun and wind sensors for peace of mind.

A Pool!

This one is quite huge and your family will definitely notice the big hole in your backyard as you’re having it constructed. The element of surprise might not be present but they will definitely hold their breath in anticipation. A pool encourages family time and lets them stay healthy by keeping them active. It’s also grand enough to serve as several holidays’ worth of gifts!

Awnings

If you already have a pool, install some awnings to serve as poolside shade. It will give your family a place to unwind and relax together. While it serves as an extension of your home’s entertainment space, it’s also a practical gift, as it can protect indoor and outdoor furniture from harmful UV rays.  All Pro Shade Concepts’ traditional and retractable awnings are made with high quality fabric and come with a 10 year warranty.

Get Your Arizona Home Ready for Nice Weather

It’s been a long, hot summer, but it’s finally time to get your Arizona backyard and patio ready for the cooler fall and winter months! Check out these home makeover tips just in time for your outdoor soirees.

All Pro Shade Concepts installs custom window sun screens, awnings, and patio shades; and are the leading shade providers in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, the East Valley (Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek) and West Valley (Phoenix, Glendale, Sun City, Laveen, Peoria, Avondale, Goodyear).

Mood Lighting

Nothing sets the mood like outdoor lighting when you’re entertaining. While standard overhead lighting on your patio is practical, it can make your outdoor party seem drab and dull. String market lights or lanterns across your entire yard to light up the whole space and make your yard and patio more inviting. Uplighting on trees makes a dramatic impression, and walkway lighting is a practical and trendy way to draw attention to your entertainment space.

Patio Shades are an amazing feature to add to your Arizona Backyard.

Add Patio Shades

Patio shades are another option that will improve your entertainment space. Make your backyard patio comfortable for your guests, by opting for a zipper-sealed track- as it helps to keep out bugs and blowing debris out without sacrificing the fresh air. Go for premium options by automating your patio shades, controlling it with a touch of a button via wall switch or smartphone. All Pro Shade Concepts utilizes only the best, top-of-the-line motors by Somfy

New Patio Furniture

Labor day is the symbolic “end of summer” holiday, so many stores try to clear out all their summer merchandise to make way for fall and holiday decor. Patio furniture is no longer advertised, which means you may be able to snag a great deal on a brand new outdoor dining set or outdoor seating collection. Your best bet at this point is to try searching clearance sections in store and online.

Extend Your Entertainment Space

Awnings are the perfect way to increase the amount of space for your guests to mingle. Place a few extra tables and chairs for your gathering underneath your awning, and they will be protected from the sun & rain. If you choose a retractable awning, you'll be able to retract the awning back when your guests leave, protecting the longevity of your fabric, while hiding your awning discreetly. All Pro Shade Concepts are the Arizona Trusted Experts in the installation of static and retractable awnings.

Landscape

As the heat of the summer drops, start thinking about getting your winter grass seeded. Most Arizona lawns consist of Bermuda grass in the summer and Ryegrass in the winter. In the summer, Bermuda grass is able to tolerate the city's triple-digit temperatures. But, Bermuda grass is dormant during the winter months. For this reason, if you want to keep your lawn looking beautiful &  green all year, you have to plant winter rye grass. October is the prime month to start scalping your lawn & planting your Ryegrass seeds.

Outdoor Games

Lawn games are a great way to enjoy the outdoors with your family and inspire a little friendly competition. Bocce ball is becoming popular again, and cornhole (or bean-bag-toss, depending on where you’re from) is always a classic game to play. You may be able to find lawn games like ladder ball and croquet on clearance at certain stores this time of year too!

Kids Back At School Means More Time For Your Home Projects

Summer has officially ended, the kids are finally back in school, and your schedule just opened up. Why not take this opportunity to get those projects around the house completed?

All Pro Shade Concepts installs custom window sun screens, awnings, and patio shades; and are the leading shade providers in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, the East Valley (Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek) and West Valley (Phoenix, Glendale, Sun City, Laveen, Peoria, Avondale, Goodyear).

Deep-Cleaning

Now that monsoon season is coming to a close, take some time to clean all the dirt and debris that collected in all the nooks and crannies of your home. Rinse out those doormats with the jet setting on your hose and let them dry in the sun, and break out the broom and brush all the dirt and dust off your patio and entryway. If you really want to feel productive, clean the tracks on your sliding doors and windows by vacuuming out the larger pieces of debris, then sprinkle baking soda on the stubborn parts and spray with a solution of 1 part vinegar to 1 part water. Let the bubbles do the work and rinse it all away!

Replace Old Fixtures

Replacing old or outdated hardware can really spruce up the look of your home for a low cost. Change out the cabinet and drawer pulls in your kitchen and bathroom for a whole new look. If you want to be frugal, there are many selections of spray paint that are suitable to use on door handles and cabinet pulls - just make sure you thoroughly tape and cover the areas you don’t want to get paint on!

Repair Damaged Furniture

Did the kids wreak havoc on your furniture while they were home all day this summer? Use the opportunity of an empty house to get torn, stained, or damaged pieces repaired before the holiday season sneaks up on you. If a DIY approach to fixing furniture seems overwhelming to you, there are plenty of professionals out there that can make your furniture look like new again.

Paint

Paint is one of the cheapest ways to dramatically change the look of your home. Even a fresh coat of the same color can make a room feel like new again. Painting the outside of your home is a little more of a task, but it can really add some extra curb appeal. Take the opportunity to get this project out of the way now and you won’t have to think about it for the next few years. Make sure all your sun screens are in good shape and get those damaged and faded awnings taken care of. Cooler weather will be here before we know it and you’ll feel much less stressed getting all the home improvement projects out of the way now.

Add Shade Solutions

The sun glaring through our windows during summer can be bothersome. Upgrading your home with shade solutions like sunscreens, patio shades and awnings can help you solve this problem. Sunscreens also keep your house cool so you won't have to spend too much on home cooling costs. Exterior shades like awnings and patio shades can let you enjoy the outdoors without worrying about harmful UV rays. It might not be a simple DIY project, but our staff at All Pro can help you with shade solutions!

The Most Popular Home Upgrades in Paradise Valley

One of the wealthiest suburbs of the Phoenix metropolitan area sits just northwest of the city: Paradise Valley. PV is well known for its luxurious resorts, immaculate golf courses, high end dining, and beautiful homes. The overall cost of living in Paradise Valley is well over three times the cost of the Arizona average, and the majority of that cost is the result of the housing market. If you’re looking for extravagant home upgrades, PV is the place to see it.

All Pro Shade Concepts installs custom window sun screens, awnings, and patio shades; and are the leading shade providers in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, the East Valley (Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek) and West Valley (Phoenix, Glendale, Sun City, Laveen, Peoria, Avondale, Goodyear).

There are countless upgrades that can be done to the inside and outside of your home to not only increase resale value, but also create a unique space that you can truly be proud of.

Furniture

If the thought of major home renovation seems overwhelming, furniture can be a great place to start your upgrades when you’re not ready to make the commitment to construction. Purchasing high quality furniture may feel like a big blow to your wallet ($$$) but you’ll be saving more in the long run since better quality furniture tends to last much longer.

Pieces that get a lot of use, such as couches, should definitely be durable and last you a while. Outdoor patio seating should be especially well-made in order to be able to stand up to the harsh conditions of the Arizona elements.

Motorized Shades

Worried about protecting your new seating or outdoor entertainment spaces from the sun and other elements? Motorized patio shades and awnings are a great way to accomplish this. They are much faster and easier to deploy than individual furniture covers. They can even be installed to be controlled with your smartphone to make it even easier! Even indoor furniture can become sun-bleached, so why not take your sun protection one step further? Install sun screens on the outside of the home to prolong the life of your upholstery.

Bonus: Sunscreens help reduce cooling costs by up to 25%, and All Pro Shade Concepts is an SRP certified contractor. More on what that means for you here.

Lighting and Entertainment

Outdoor kitchens and bars are a major staple in many Paradise Valley homes, and they are a great way to keep the inside of the house cool while you do the cooking and entertaining outside. With flat screen televisions and full size refrigerators outside with your grill though, you’ll want to take extra precautions to keep all of these things protected.

Misting Systems

If you’re interested in extending your living space to the outdoors, consider a misting system. We all know the Arizona heat can be unbearable and can really put a damper on any plans involving the outdoors, but a misting system can make the patio a much more pleasant place to be and it uses less water than you may think. Be sure to consult a professional when it comes to installing misters though, you may need additional pumps to ensure your misters are working properly and not acting as a sprinkler system instead.

Why You Should Buy A House That’s North or South Facing

When you’re searching for a new home, there are many things that you are probably considering. Is the yard big enough? Are there enough bedrooms? Is the kitchen the right size? Is there a pool? Out of all of these questions, there is probably one that you’re not considering - is the house you’re looking at north or south facing?

All Pro Shade Concepts installs custom window sun screens, awnings, and patio shades; and are the leading shade providers in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, the East Valley (Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek) and West Valley (Phoenix, Glendale, Sun City, Laveen, Peoria, Avondale, Goodyear).

The reason this is an important question to ask yourself or the realtor is that it makes a difference when and where the sun comes into your home. This question, however, is very much dependent on where you live. If you’re living in an area that has a more moderate climate most of the year, you’ll mostly likely want to have more sunlight warming your house, but if you’re in a place like Arizona, you’ll want to make sure you have the least amount of sunlight warming your house as possible to keep it cool.

 South-Facing

If you’re looking to have the most sunlight in your home, you’ll typically want to look for a house that is south-facing. This will ensure that your home is filled with natural sunlight for most of the day and give the front of your house more light and warmth.

North-Facing

Typically a north-facing home will only get sunlight in the back of the home and will be naturally cooler and darker than that of a south-facing home. In a place like Arizona this is typically the home you’ll want to look more at to keep cooling costs down when the temperatures rise. Who wouldn't want to save more money when you're running the A/C so often?

If you find that the sun is warming your home in a way you never intended, don’t worry, you don’t have to pack up and find a new home. Think about installing sun screens in the parts of your home that get the warmest (or the whole home for a uniform look).

Sun screens will block out most sunlight and heat, keep your home cooler, and cut down your cooling costs. What’s great about sun shades is that they don’t block out the view from the inside of your home, but keep wandering eyes from looking in from the outside.
