Essential Tips to Keep Your Motorized Awnings Looking Great Year-Round

Motorized awnings are becoming increasingly popular for homeowners seeking style and practicality in outdoor shade solutions. Knowing how to properly maintain your awnings is key, although it may require a little time and a bit of effort, it’s worth it to optimize longevity, preserve the appearance, and maximize your investment.

All Pro’s high-quality, durable motorized awnings adapt to Arizona’s dynamic climate.

We’ve created a guide with practical maintenance tips to help you keep your awnings looking and functioning at their best.

Why Maintenance Matters for Motorized Awnings

Neglecting upkeep on your awnings can lead to issues such as fabric deterioration, motor malfunctions, and structural damage, resulting in completely avoidable repairs or replacements.

Giving them a bit of TLC every now and then can extend the lifespan of awnings and prevent common problems associated with prolonged exposure, wear and tear.

A consistent maintenance schedule allows homeowners to protect their investment and enjoy the comfort and shade their motorized awnings provide.

Tips for Awning Maintenance

  1. Inspect the Frame: Check for loose bolts, screws, and any signs of rust or wear. Tighten any loose fittings or call All Pro to check.

  2. Clean and Lubricate Moving Parts: Keeping the motor and arms in good shape will ensure smooth operation. Ask our team of experts on what lubricant is right for your particular awning.

  3. Protect During Harsh Weather: Although designed for outdoor use, severe weather can damage motorized awnings. Retract your awnings during storms or high winds to prevent wear on the fabric and motor. All Pro Awnings are retracted into a semi-cassette protective housing.

  4. Test the Motor: Regularly extend and retract your awning to ensure the motor is functioning correctly. Contact All Pro Shade Concepts for support or motor replacement options if you notice any hesitations or unusual sounds.

  5. Learn About Your Motorized Awnings: All Pro builds their awnings from scratch and are completely customized to the customer’s needs and style. Each All Pro awning is unique — that’s why it’s important to speak to our team to fully understand the mechanics of each installation.

Essential Awning Cleaning Tips

  • Dust and Brush Regularly: Use a soft brush to remove all the dirt and debris from the fabric and frame, preventing dirt buildup that can lead to stains and fabric wear.
  • Spot Clean Stains: For stains that are hard to remove, we recommend using 303 Fabric Guard every 3 to 5 years to help avoid having to replace the fabric.
  • Rinse and Dry: After cleaning, rinse the awning with water to remove any soap residue. Then, air dry thoroughly before retracting to prevent mold and mildew.

All Pro uses Sunbrella Fabrics for retractable awnings, which are designed at the highest level of performance. These fabrics are mildew- and fade-resistant, and more importantly, easy to clean!

Sunbrella

Used for retractable awnings, this high-grade fabric is engineered to combine the highest level of design and performance. Sunbrella fabrics are easy to clean, mildew and fade resistant.

  • Brush off loose dirt.
  • Hose down.
  • Prepare a cleaning solution of water and mild soap such as Ivory Snow, Dreft or Woolite (no detergents).
  • Use a soft bristle brush to clean.
  • Allow cleaning solution to soak into the fabric.
  • Rinse thoroughly until all soap residue is removed.
  • Air dry.
  • May not require re-treatment depending on the age of the fabric.

Why We Recommend 303 Fabric Guard

When your Awnings become stained, dirty, or dusty, it is definitely due for a clean up. Using 303 Fabric Guard every 3-5 years gives a longer life span for your awnings so you don’t have to replace fabric. We recommend 303 Fabric Guard.

Personally Recomended by Sunbrella

The shades that we use are made with Sunbrella fabrics. Sunbrella is known for fabrics that are stain, water, dust, and weather resistant.

Enhances Awnings Performance

303 Fabric guard will get rid of dirt, water and other elements that can destroy the fabric of the awning bringing back water and stain resiliency.

Does Not Change Color

Gives the protection and cleaning you need without altering the color of the fabric.
