Does Your Home Need More Privacy?

Does your home need more privacy? If you live in Arizona, you probably know this problem well. Not having enough privacy is a common problem in parts of Arizona where developers tend to maximize profit. Homes in Gilbert, Queen Creek & West Valley are built so close together, not leaving much to the imagination of prying eyes or curious neighbors.

People passing by can see you go about your daily routine through your windows. Having a nice afternoon in your backyard patio? Your neighbors can see you from the second floor of their homes. When you just want to relax and enjoy solitude, the last thing you want to see is your neighbors staring at you. How do you solve this privacy problem?

All Pro Shade Concepts installs custom window sun screens, awnings, and patio shades; and are the leading shade providers in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, the East Valley (Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek) and West Valley (Phoenix, Glendale, Sun City, Laveen, Peoria, Avondale, Goodyear).

Build Fences or Walls

This seems to be the pretty obvious solution. But first, you have to pick the kind of fence that works for you. You can go for the usual wooden fence, or a stone wall topped with wooden fencing. Mixing it up a bit with interesting materials such as glass, ornate ironwork or different kinds of wood can get rid of the claustrophobic feeling you get from dull fences. Just make sure to follow your area’s Property Line & Fence laws.

Consider Lattices

One good way to gain privacy is to use lattices. Lattices can make your yard look more cozy and inviting. If your yard is looking a little grey, you can add some color by growing vines like Bougainvillea or Cat’s Claw unto your lattice. While lattices allow air flow and natural light into your yard, it also serves as a good visual barrier.

Get Sun Screens on Your Windows

If you need some privacy from your neighbors and shade from the glaring sun, shade solutions can hit two birds with one stone. It takes a bit of work to put up fences and lattices, and not everyone has the luxury of time. You can always ask a professional to install shade solutions for you. Sun screens are great all-year round visual barriers and it helps you cool your home. You can choose your custom screen materials- like fabric, where you can decide the amount of visibility you want from the outside.

Get Patio Shades or Awnings

Retractable awnings and patio roll shades are awesome options that will also let you enjoy your patio without worrying about being seen from your neighbor’s second floor window. You'll be amazed at how much more privacy you'll feel with these simple shade solutions. Just as the window screens, you can decide the amount of visibility you prefer with your custom patio shades, along with your choice of track style.

Do Some Landscaping

There are many ways to use plants and trees to gain more privacy, and there are a number of trees that can grow in the Arizona climate. Trees like the Desert Willow, Blue Palo Verde and Arizona Rosewood are perfect for landscaping. Hedges and other plants are also a great way to block your neighbors’ view. If your yard space is a little small, experiment with raised plant beds, huge planters and layered gardens and turn your yard into a quaint little getaway.

Get Your Arizona Home Ready for Nice Weather

It’s been a long, hot summer, but it’s finally time to get your Arizona backyard and patio ready for the cooler fall and winter months! Check out these home makeover tips just in time for your outdoor soirees.

All Pro Shade Concepts installs custom window sun screens, awnings, and patio shades; and are the leading shade providers in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, the East Valley (Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek) and West Valley (Phoenix, Glendale, Sun City, Laveen, Peoria, Avondale, Goodyear).

Mood Lighting

Nothing sets the mood like outdoor lighting when you’re entertaining. While standard overhead lighting on your patio is practical, it can make your outdoor party seem drab and dull. String market lights or lanterns across your entire yard to light up the whole space and make your yard and patio more inviting. Uplighting on trees makes a dramatic impression, and walkway lighting is a practical and trendy way to draw attention to your entertainment space.

Patio Shades are an amazing feature to add to your Arizona Backyard.

Add Patio Shades

Patio shades are another option that will improve your entertainment space. Make your backyard patio comfortable for your guests, by opting for a zipper-sealed track- as it helps to keep out bugs and blowing debris out without sacrificing the fresh air. Go for premium options by automating your patio shades, controlling it with a touch of a button via wall switch or smartphone. All Pro Shade Concepts utilizes only the best, top-of-the-line motors by Somfy

New Patio Furniture

Labor day is the symbolic “end of summer” holiday, so many stores try to clear out all their summer merchandise to make way for fall and holiday decor. Patio furniture is no longer advertised, which means you may be able to snag a great deal on a brand new outdoor dining set or outdoor seating collection. Your best bet at this point is to try searching clearance sections in store and online.

Extend Your Entertainment Space

Awnings are the perfect way to increase the amount of space for your guests to mingle. Place a few extra tables and chairs for your gathering underneath your awning, and they will be protected from the sun & rain. If you choose a retractable awning, you'll be able to retract the awning back when your guests leave, protecting the longevity of your fabric, while hiding your awning discreetly. All Pro Shade Concepts are the Arizona Trusted Experts in the installation of static and retractable awnings.

Landscape

As the heat of the summer drops, start thinking about getting your winter grass seeded. Most Arizona lawns consist of Bermuda grass in the summer and Ryegrass in the winter. In the summer, Bermuda grass is able to tolerate the city's triple-digit temperatures. But, Bermuda grass is dormant during the winter months. For this reason, if you want to keep your lawn looking beautiful &  green all year, you have to plant winter rye grass. October is the prime month to start scalping your lawn & planting your Ryegrass seeds.

Outdoor Games

Lawn games are a great way to enjoy the outdoors with your family and inspire a little friendly competition. Bocce ball is becoming popular again, and cornhole (or bean-bag-toss, depending on where you’re from) is always a classic game to play. You may be able to find lawn games like ladder ball and croquet on clearance at certain stores this time of year too!

Kids Back At School Means More Time For Your Home Projects

Summer has officially ended, the kids are finally back in school, and your schedule just opened up. Why not take this opportunity to get those projects around the house completed?

All Pro Shade Concepts installs custom window sun screens, awnings, and patio shades; and are the leading shade providers in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, the East Valley (Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek) and West Valley (Phoenix, Glendale, Sun City, Laveen, Peoria, Avondale, Goodyear).

Deep-Cleaning

Now that monsoon season is coming to a close, take some time to clean all the dirt and debris that collected in all the nooks and crannies of your home. Rinse out those doormats with the jet setting on your hose and let them dry in the sun, and break out the broom and brush all the dirt and dust off your patio and entryway. If you really want to feel productive, clean the tracks on your sliding doors and windows by vacuuming out the larger pieces of debris, then sprinkle baking soda on the stubborn parts and spray with a solution of 1 part vinegar to 1 part water. Let the bubbles do the work and rinse it all away!

Replace Old Fixtures

Replacing old or outdated hardware can really spruce up the look of your home for a low cost. Change out the cabinet and drawer pulls in your kitchen and bathroom for a whole new look. If you want to be frugal, there are many selections of spray paint that are suitable to use on door handles and cabinet pulls - just make sure you thoroughly tape and cover the areas you don’t want to get paint on!

Repair Damaged Furniture

Did the kids wreak havoc on your furniture while they were home all day this summer? Use the opportunity of an empty house to get torn, stained, or damaged pieces repaired before the holiday season sneaks up on you. If a DIY approach to fixing furniture seems overwhelming to you, there are plenty of professionals out there that can make your furniture look like new again.

Paint

Paint is one of the cheapest ways to dramatically change the look of your home. Even a fresh coat of the same color can make a room feel like new again. Painting the outside of your home is a little more of a task, but it can really add some extra curb appeal. Take the opportunity to get this project out of the way now and you won’t have to think about it for the next few years. Make sure all your sun screens are in good shape and get those damaged and faded awnings taken care of. Cooler weather will be here before we know it and you’ll feel much less stressed getting all the home improvement projects out of the way now.

Add Shade Solutions

The sun glaring through our windows during summer can be bothersome. Upgrading your home with shade solutions like sunscreens, patio shades and awnings can help you solve this problem. Sunscreens also keep your house cool so you won't have to spend too much on home cooling costs. Exterior shades like awnings and patio shades can let you enjoy the outdoors without worrying about harmful UV rays. It might not be a simple DIY project, but our staff at All Pro can help you with shade solutions!

The Most Popular Home Upgrades in Paradise Valley

One of the wealthiest suburbs of the Phoenix metropolitan area sits just northwest of the city: Paradise Valley. PV is well known for its luxurious resorts, immaculate golf courses, high end dining, and beautiful homes. The overall cost of living in Paradise Valley is well over three times the cost of the Arizona average, and the majority of that cost is the result of the housing market. If you’re looking for extravagant home upgrades, PV is the place to see it.

All Pro Shade Concepts installs custom window sun screens, awnings, and patio shades; and are the leading shade providers in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, the East Valley (Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek) and West Valley (Phoenix, Glendale, Sun City, Laveen, Peoria, Avondale, Goodyear).

There are countless upgrades that can be done to the inside and outside of your home to not only increase resale value, but also create a unique space that you can truly be proud of.

Furniture

If the thought of major home renovation seems overwhelming, furniture can be a great place to start your upgrades when you’re not ready to make the commitment to construction. Purchasing high quality furniture may feel like a big blow to your wallet ($$$) but you’ll be saving more in the long run since better quality furniture tends to last much longer.

Pieces that get a lot of use, such as couches, should definitely be durable and last you a while. Outdoor patio seating should be especially well-made in order to be able to stand up to the harsh conditions of the Arizona elements.

Motorized Shades

Worried about protecting your new seating or outdoor entertainment spaces from the sun and other elements? Motorized patio shades and awnings are a great way to accomplish this. They are much faster and easier to deploy than individual furniture covers. They can even be installed to be controlled with your smartphone to make it even easier! Even indoor furniture can become sun-bleached, so why not take your sun protection one step further? Install sun screens on the outside of the home to prolong the life of your upholstery.

Bonus: Sunscreens help reduce cooling costs by up to 25%, and All Pro Shade Concepts is an SRP certified contractor. More on what that means for you here.

Lighting and Entertainment

Outdoor kitchens and bars are a major staple in many Paradise Valley homes, and they are a great way to keep the inside of the house cool while you do the cooking and entertaining outside. With flat screen televisions and full size refrigerators outside with your grill though, you’ll want to take extra precautions to keep all of these things protected.

Misting Systems

If you’re interested in extending your living space to the outdoors, consider a misting system. We all know the Arizona heat can be unbearable and can really put a damper on any plans involving the outdoors, but a misting system can make the patio a much more pleasant place to be and it uses less water than you may think. Be sure to consult a professional when it comes to installing misters though, you may need additional pumps to ensure your misters are working properly and not acting as a sprinkler system instead.

East-West or North-South: Where Should Your House Face?

For a number of homeowners, orientation matters when it comes to where the house faces. Many would opt for east-facing homes for that beautiful sunrise or a home that’s facing west for cooler mornings that are great for sleeping in. When you’re living in Arizona however, having an east-west facing house can actually entail problems.

All Pro Shade Concepts installs custom window sun screens, awnings, and patio shades; and are the leading shade providers in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, the East Valley (Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek) and West Valley (Phoenix, Glendale, Sun City, Laveen, Peoria, Avondale, Goodyear).

For home efficiency’s sake, your best bet is to have a home that’s facing north or south. Here’s why.

East-West Facing House

With an east-west facing house, the intense heat will be concentrated on the front and backyard, discouraging yard time with loved ones. Homes rarely have large windows on the side of their homes, they’re usually located at the front & back of the home. The summer sun will beam into windows and temperatures indoors will be a lot higher, demanding more in cooling costs.

North-South-Facing House

A north-south facing house is desirable in that it’s not exposed directly to sunlight (as the sunrises in the east, and sets in the west), which means temperatures inside the house will be cooler, especially during hot summer days.

What to Do When You Have an East- or West-Facing Home

If you have a home that faces east or west, your best solution is shade. Trees shading windows can help block heat & sun exposure from entering your home. If you are concerned about your view becoming obstructed, shade installations could be the answer.

Window Sun Screens provide you with increased privacy, where passersby cannot see in, while you can clearly see out. Installing Window Sun Screens on your home can save you up to 25% on Cooling Costs in the intense Arizona summer.

All Pro Shade Concepts is Phoenix’s most trusted when it comes to sun screens. If you have an SRP Account for your home, you may be eligible for the SRP Screen Shade Rebate Program. SRP is offering customers a rebate of $0.80 per square foot on window screens installed by All Pro Shade Concepts.

Patio Drop Shades keep your home cooler, and also serve as an added layer of shade for you and your guests, when the sun shines into your patio.

Awnings can be installed over doors or windows to provide protection from sun entering your home. Attaching retractable awnings to patios also provides expansion of shaded entertainment space, that you can retract when not needed.

Patio Shades & Retractable Awnings reduce cooling costs and can both be motorized & integrated with sun or wind sensors, for maximum efficiency.

Monsoon Season: Options That Can Help Your Home Shades Survive

If you’ve lived in Arizona for some time you’ll know that monsoon season will come whether you’re ready for it or not. If you’ve installed shades or awnings in your home, you’ll want to make sure that they’re protected when the strong winds roll in.

All Pro Shade Concepts installs custom window sun screens, awnings, and patio shades; and are the leading shade providers in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, the East Valley (Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek) and West Valley (Phoenix, Glendale, Sun City, Laveen, Peoria, Avondale, Goodyear).

Retractable Awnings & Patio Shades

When the storm turns your day upside down - you don’t have to worry about your awnings and patio shades to do the same. Be sure to upgrade any existing shades to retractable to ensure that they can be safely stored away.

If you’re feeling on upgrading a little more, you can opt to make your awnings/patio shades retractable by motorization and choose to have it connected to a WiFi enabled system that will connect to your smartphone.

Somfy Wind Sensors

In addition to adding retractable awnings, you can also purchase wind sensors to give you that extra peace of mind. Two options on the market are the Soliris RTS Kit and Eolis 3D Wirefree RTS Wind Sensor - both by Somfy.

How To Enjoy the Arizona Rain

At the height of summer, Arizona natives are accustomed to monsoon season where they typically see rainfall. Don’t let the rain of the season get you down. Here are tips to enjoy the Arizona rain -

Take A Walk

It might seem counterintuitive to walk while it’s raining out, but if it isn’t pouring to the point where you can’t see anything, the natural beauty that you can see during a light shower is amazing.

Go with friends, family, or enjoy some alone time. If you go with kids, release your inner child and jump in puddles with them!

Go For a Drive

If you’d rather stay a little more dry, you can go for a drive. It allows you to see the Arizona beauty that resurfaces from the rain, while avoiding your clothes being wet. You can drive to go somewhere like shops, restaurants or sweet treats, or you can simply drive to just feel like you’re getting away.

If you’re with kids, you can always drive to find the ends of rainbows!

Relax At Home

The most obvious way to enjoy the rain is to not even go anywhere. You can enjoy it from the comfort of your home. Twist it up a bit though - you don’t need to stay inside all day. Relax on your patio with friends and family to enjoy the smells and sounds of the rainy day. One option outside is to have lunch with comfortable seating and tables big enough for the whole family.

If it is just a bit warm outside, consider installing fans in the patio space to cool it down a bit.

If your patio is not covered, you should consider doing so first that way  everyone isn’t sitting around getting drenched. The experts at All Pro Shade Concepts have been in business for over 15 years providing shade solutions for homes and businesses. These patio shades are sealed to protect you from what nature has to throw at you while still being able to see outside. You can even opt to have them motorized in order to control them with your smartphone.

Swimming To Escape The Heat? Don’t Let Sun Exposure Affect Your Family’s Health

When temperatures soar to over 100 degrees in an Arizona summer, there’s no better way to cool down than to take a dip in a cold, refreshing pool. Whether you’re floating in the water, or splashing around with the kids, never forget the health risks that the sun poses to you and your family. With the harmful UV rays shining down on you (and reflecting off of a pool), there are many things you can do to limit your health risks. Remember that the sun can give you sunburns that can be so painful that you feel you cannot move and it itches, it can cause blistering, it can prematurely age you, and you can develop freckles and moles that can then turn into cancer.

Even if you don't plan on hopping in the pool this summer, here are tips to make sure you all have fun while still being safe.

Lather on the SPF

The most important thing to remember when you’re out in the sun (going swimming or not) is to apply sunscreen. If you will be hanging out at the pool, the number one rule is to reapply - and liberally. The CDC recommends using at least an SPF of 15 prior to going outside. Of course, the higher the SPF number the more protection it is supposed to give. You should reapply every two hours, or after swimming, sweating, or toweling off.

Last but not least, make sure your sunscreen has not expired. If it does not have an expiration date, sunscreen typically has a shelf life of about three years.

All Pro Shade Concepts installs custom window sun screens, awnings, and patio shades; and are the leading shade providers in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, the East Valley (Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek) and West Valley (Phoenix, Glendale, Sun City, Laveen, Peoria, Avondale, Goodyear).

A hat is definitely a good thing to wear while relaxing in the pool. Also consider wearing sunglasses. Not only will they protect your eyes from the bright sunlight and reflection of the sun off the pool, but it protects your eyes from sun damage along with the skin surrounding your eyes.

Protective Clothing

Another way to protect yourself is to cover your skin whenever possible. If you are not swimming and can bear to put on some sort of clothing (thin and light would be best in the heat), that would help against the harmful UV rays. Additionally, it would be a good idea to wear a sun hat. It will give you shade on your face and neck, and if the brim is large enough, it could even give you some protection on your shoulders.

Find Shade

The last way to protect you and your family from the harsh sun is to hang out in the shade whenever possible. That could be sitting under a big tree, under a patio umbrella, or under an awning or patio shade. A Patio umbrella is an easy, inexpensive option, but if you’re having a party, it would not be sufficient to provide shade for everyone.

When trying to provide the most shade as possible in your yard, think of installing an awning or patio shades.

An awning gives you additional shade on your patio. It increases the amount of shaded area by attaching it to your home and extending out. Awnings are typically retractable so they don’t always need to be out.
A patio shade attaches to your existing patio and comes down like a window shade so it can block the sun from coming into your patio. It can also block out winds, bugs and dirt when retracted down.

Let's Get Started!
All Pro Shade Concepts specializes in the honest & professional installation of custom window screens, awnings, & patio shades.

If you’re trying to decide between an awning or patio shade, you can always consult the experts at All Pro Shade Concepts. Thinking Of Selling Your Home? Upgrades That Can Attract Buyers

Are you ready to sell your home in hopes of finding your dream home? Maybe you’re relocating for work or family. Either way, if you’re considering selling your current home, there are some upgrades you should consider making in order to attract the most buyers. Here are some tips -

Update Flooring

If your carpet/tile/hardwood is looking a bit dirty and run down, you should definitely consider updating it. Hardwood is always a classic, nowadays tile should be kept strictly to bathrooms and kitchens to avoid a dated look, and it’s best to keep carpet colors on the neutral side.

If hardwood flooring is the look you’re going for but you don’t want to spend a lot of money, you can look for laminate flooring that looks like wood. This will keep costs down, but still attract buyers to the more modern look.

Tip: buyers will like the look of consistent flooring throughout. So don’t go out and pick a bunch of different types and/or colors of flooring.

All Pro Shade Concepts installs custom window sun screens, awnings, and patio shades; and are the leading shade providers in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, the East Valley (Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek) and West Valley (Phoenix, Glendale, Sun City, Laveen, Peoria, Avondale, Goodyear).

Tip: Try to keep the colors you choose light, bright, and neutral - especially if there is not a lot of natural light filtering in these rooms.

Kitchen/Bathroom Renovation

If your budget allows it, consider a kitchen and/or bathroom renovation. Doing one or both of these could significantly increase the value of your home and the willingness of buyers to take a look at your home. It could be as simple as changing the backsplash in your kitchen or repainting old cabinets and installing new hardware on it. If you’re looking for more value to be added, replacing your countertops will help as well.

Landscaping

Curb appeal. If you haven’t heard that term yet, get used to hearing it. This is the first thing buyers will see and consider. If the outside of your home is not appealing, chances are they won’t even bother stepping inside. To avoid this, try updating your landscape. Make sure there are no dead weeds or plants.

Ensure there is not clutter from toys or old furniture. If you’re able to, try having your home repainted. A fresh coat of paint can go a long way in addition to updated roofing.

Tip: Think about updating your front door as well - especially if it’s looking old and paint is chipping.

Your goal here is to make someone drive by and want to stop just by looking at the outside of your home.

Tip: If you are installing sun screens in your windows, be sure to consult a professional. This is one project you should not try to DIY. All Pro Shade Concepts are experts at installations and even customize them to your liking. The company even participates in the SRP Shade Screen Rebate Program, which could end up saving you money if their sun screens are installed into your home!

Update Windows

If your home was constructed pre 1970 and hasn’t been updated since, the windows are probably not the best for several reasons. If your home is so old that it doesn’t have a good central air system, home buyers will already be hesitant. By replacing or updating your windows, this could help insulate the home further, allow for a window A/C unit to be installed, and give the home a more modern look. You could also consider installing sun screens in the windows to further insulate the home.

Doing this could keep more heat from coming into the home and give it another uniform look from the outside (hint: curb appeal!). They will also allow you more privacy from the outside, while still being able to see the view from the inside.

Let's Get Started!
All Pro Shade Concepts specializes in the honest & professional installation of custom window screens, awnings, & patio shades.

Tip: If you haven’t looked at it in over a year and it is not any kind of important document, you probably will never look at or need it again. It’s time to say goodbye to it.

Declutter

This one isn’t so much an upgrade as it is a must do. If you were to walk into a home with a lot of items strewn everywhere, you probably wouldn’t want to stay long either. So why expect homebuyers to? Make sure you declutter your home prior to any open houses (and before photos are taken as well!) to prevent potential homebuyers missing the little details you love and worked so hard to update. You could have the most beautiful living room, but if your kids have taken it over as a playroom, it won’t feel inviting to someone looking to buy.

Does Your AZ Home Need Updating?

You purchased your home 5, 10+ years ago. Back then, it may have been fully updated and turn-key, or maybe you bought a fixer upper and never got around to finishing it. If you can feel your home’s age, it may be time to do some updating. You can update it from the inside, or from the outside - it all depends on how much time you have. Whatever you choose, you will improve your living surroundings, and are now increasing your home’s equity.

Update the Inside

With all that's available: online shopping, purchasing new furnishings is as easy as a tapping a few buttons on your phone. Update your overworn couch, purchase new chinaware, or find a great entryway table.

Try finding unique pieces at garage sales or consignment stores and repainting them to match your homes style. If you have more time, look into painting rooms, replacing old flooring, or renovating the bathrooms and kitchen.

While you beautify the interior of your home, you'll want to protect it, too. If you want to customize the visibility of the inside of your home, look into having window sun screens installed to all the windows in your home. This will give you the security and privacy you’re looking for, being able to see out of your windows, but bystanders wont be able to see in.

Update Your Exterior

When you update the outside of your home, you instantly improve its curbside appeal. In your front yard you could update your landscaping with new plants, a fountain, or pavement. Replacing your old garage door will make your life easier if it hasn’t been working properly in addition to giving your home a uniform look.

Custom window sun screens can completely change the look of your Arizona Home's exterior. Replace old, faded, or torn window sun screens to give your home an elegant, and more sophisticated look.

A Backyard Dream

If you’re more into updating your backyard, look at updating your pool with a waterfall or new tiles, upgrade your patio furniture with newly upholstered cushions & umbrellas, or purchase a new grill for all the summertime parties you can host in your updated backyard.

Get ready to party!

To prevent damage to your new furniture and grill, you can also install awnings or patio shades. Awnings attach directly to your home and are retractable so you can choose whether or not you want to use it. Patio shades are a great option if you want to be able to shade your patio like an awning, but want more coverage and versatility. With patio shades you can protect your patio from different kind of weather including rain! In addition, it shields it from unwanted insects and from blocks most of the sun’s harmful rays.
