Retractable Exterior Shade for San Tan Valley Outdoor Spaces

Having a roof over your patio doesn’t always solve the sun problem. As the sun gets lower in the morning or afternoon, direct light can enter through the open sides of a covered patio and reach seating areas, outdoor kitchens, televisions, dining spaces, or poolside areas.

Retractable patio shades address that side-angle exposure while allowing you to keep the flexibility of an open patio.

Lower the shades when sunlight or glare becomes uncomfortable, when you want additional privacy, or when you want the patio to feel more protected. Raise them again when you want an unobstructed view and open-air environment.

The important part is choosing the right type of shade system for how you actually want to use the space.

Which Patio Shade System Fits Your San Tan Valley Home?

All Pro installs two primary types of exterior patio shades, and they serve somewhat different needs.

Want a More Enclosed Patio? Consider Sealed Track

Sealed Track patio shades are motorized. The shade fabric travels within side tracks, helping keep the material contained along the sides as it raises and lowers.

When the shades are down, the system creates a more enclosed outdoor environment and can help keep bugs and blowing debris from entering the patio.

This makes Sealed Track a strong option if your goal is to create a more protected outdoor living area while still retaining the ability to retract the shades when you want the patio open.

Prefer a More Open Shade System? Consider Cable-Guided

Cable-Guided patio shades can be either manual or motorized.

Instead of enclosing the edges of the fabric inside tracks, heavy-duty cables guide the shade as it moves. This provides sun and glare protection while maintaining a more open appearance along the sides.

A manual Cable-Guided system can work well when you want a straightforward retractable shade. Motorized Cable-Guided shades provide the same open-style configuration with the added convenience of powered operation.

Think About How You Want the Patio to Feel

Choosing between Sealed Track and Cable-Guided shades isn’t only about motorization.

If your priority is creating a patio that feels more enclosed and protected, Sealed Track will usually be the system worth discussing first.

If your primary goal is blocking direct sunlight while preserving a more open-air feel, Cable-Guided shades may be a better fit.

Privacy also matters. A homeowner trying to shield an outdoor seating area from direct afternoon sun may have different fabric and system needs than someone whose primary concern is adding privacy between their patio and a neighboring property.

During your consultation, All Pro can look at the actual openings, sun exposure, and how you use the patio before recommending a configuration.

Choosing Shade Fabric: Sun Protection, Privacy & Your View

The shade system is only part of the decision. Fabric selection affects what the patio feels like once the shades are lowered.

Depending on the material selected, you can create different balances between sun blockage, outward visibility, airflow, and privacy.

If preserving your view is important, tell our team during your consultation. If your priority is greater privacy or stronger sun protection, that may point toward a different fabric.

All Pro can show you available materials and help you select a fabric and hardware combination that works with both your shade goals and the appearance of your home.

Motorized Shades for Larger or Frequently Used Patios

If you expect to adjust your shades frequently, motorization can make the patio significantly easier to use.

Sealed Track systems are motorized, while Cable-Guided shades give you the choice of manual or motorized operation.

Motorization can be especially convenient when a patio has multiple shade openings or when the shades are large enough that regularly operating them manually would be inconvenient.

Instead of leaving shades down simply because adjusting several of them feels like work, powered operation makes it easier to change the patio as the sun moves throughout the day.

How All Pro Installs Patio Shades in San Tan Valley

Your project starts at the patio—not with a standard shade size selected from a catalog.

During your free consultation, All Pro evaluates and measures the openings you want to shade. We’ll discuss where direct sunlight enters, whether privacy matters, how enclosed you want the patio to feel, and whether you prefer manual or motorized operation.

From there, our team helps you select an appropriate third-party manufactured shade system, fabric, hardware, controls, and configuration.

Once the system is ready, All Pro’s professional installation team installs the patio shades at your San Tan Valley property and explains how to properly operate and care for them.

Frequently Asked Questions About Patio Shades in San Tan Valley, AZ

Can I shade the sides of my covered patio without permanently enclosing it?

Yes. Retractable patio shades can be installed along appropriate open sides of a covered patio, allowing you to lower the shades when you want sun protection or privacy and retract them when you want the patio open again.

All Pro will evaluate the dimensions and mounting conditions before recommending a system.

Which patio shade is best if I want more privacy?

Both systems can add privacy, but the right choice also depends on how enclosed you want the patio to feel and which fabric you select.

A motorized Sealed Track system creates a more enclosed environment, while Cable-Guided shades maintain a more open configuration. Fabric selection also affects visibility and privacy.

Which patio shade should I choose if I want manual operation?

Choose a Cable-Guided patio shade if manual operation is important to you. Cable-Guided systems can be manual or motorized.

The Sealed Track systems installed by All Pro are motorized.

Are Sealed Track shades the same as permanently screening in my patio?

No. Sealed Track shades are retractable. When lowered, the tracked design creates a more enclosed outdoor environment and can help keep bugs and blowing debris outside. When you want the patio open again, the shades can be raised.

Can I motorize more than one patio shade?

Motorized shade systems can be used for patios with multiple openings, depending on the project configuration. This can make it much easier to adjust several shades as sunlight changes throughout the day.

All Pro can review your patio layout and available control options during your consultation.

Can I still see outside when my patio shades are down?

That depends largely on the fabric selected. Different fabrics provide different balances of sun blockage, privacy, and outward visibility.

If keeping your view is important, let our team know so it can be considered when comparing fabric options.

Can Sealed Track shades help with bugs and blowing debris?

Yes. Because the shade fabric remains secured along the side tracks, a Sealed Track system creates a more enclosed environment and can help reduce bugs and blowing debris entering the patio.

What should I do with my shades during severe Arizona weather?

Always follow the operating and weather recommendations provided for your particular shade system. Retractable systems give you the ability to raise and secure your shades when weather conditions require it.

Does All Pro manufacture the patio shades it installs?

No. All Pro Shade Concepts provides consultation, sales, measuring, product-selection assistance, and professional installation. The shade systems are manufactured by third-party industry partners.

This allows our team to focus on helping you select an appropriate system and completing the installation correctly at your property.

Does All Pro provide free patio shade estimates in San Tan Valley?

Yes. All Pro provides free estimates for San Tan Valley homeowners. We’ll measure the appropriate patio openings and help you compare motorized Sealed Track shades with manual or motorized Cable-Guided shades.

Why Work With All Pro for Your San Tan Valley Patio?

Choosing patio shades involves more than choosing a fabric color. The dimensions of the openings, desired sun protection, privacy, operating method, and type of track system all affect the finished installation.

All Pro helps you work through those decisions before the shade system is ordered and then professionally installs the selected products at your home.

You’ll have a local Arizona shade company handling the process from the initial measurements and product selection through installation and operation.

I have not written many reviews. However, the All Pro Shades team has been EXCEPTIONAL in after service support. We had 4 shades put in when we moved to AZ in 2022. Since that time, we have had some minor issues and All Pro Shades was very quick to respond and service our shades. It has been 3 years and our largest screen had some problems sticking. They came out and replaced the pieces causing the problem and the shade is now as good as new! The shades work great, but the customer service and how they back their product is what has been even more impressive to me. I am very pleased and would recommend them to anyone!
